This year's fall trip took me to Colorado's amazing aspen forests near Crested Butte and Telluride, to the wonderful painted hills of Utah's Wasatch Mountains, to the deceivingly stark landscapes of central Nevada and, finally, to the magical Sierras and Yosemite National Park in California

I spent 15 days on the road and 13 nights sleeping in the back of my truck.  I traveled 4,615 miles, taking hundreds of pictures but only 2 showers.  Through all kinds of weather and towns, it was always an adventure with plenty of surprises - sometimes good (the Whoa Nellie Deli in Lee Vining) and sometimes trying (a blown tire on a narrow, rocky dirt road in the Bristlecone Pine Forest).

Below are some of my favorite images from the trip (click on the thumbnails so see a larger version).  The complete Fall Gallery, including the best of the rest, can be seen here.
